Especially when you have all those summer trips and activities already planned out. So help yourself in beating the summer heat by keeping cool and healthy. Consider these food choices this summer:
Fruit with yoghurt
Have some fruit with yoghurt to keep yourself cool and hydrated. You can mix in slices of fruit and some Greek yoghurt and keep them cooled overnight. This will make a yummy cool breakfast which is a cool start to start a hot summer day. Fruits will keep you hydrated while yoghurt has good bacteria that are healthy for you.
Vegetables
Now isn’t vegetables always recommended? Vegetables are just as great in the summer season because not only are they packed with nutrients and minerals but they also contain a lot of water. That means eating your vegetables is one way to keep yourself hydrated during summer.
Salad
Now we’re on to the fun part. Having some carbohydrates is recommended to help our body combat heat exhaustion which we can expect on a hot weather. We may eat some potato salad, baked potato, rice, pita bread, and other carb choices. These starchy foods are reliable on keeping our blood sugar and energy levels even. Just make sure to only eat moderately.
Watermelons
Watermelons contain 90 percent of water which makes it one of your best choices for summer food. Not only will it keep you full but it will also keep you hydrated. Good thing watermelons are all around during this season. Can you just imagine if watermelons only get ripe on cold weather? Thank goodness they’re picked at just the right time.
Bananas
Bananas may be your everyday fruit so you’ll be glad to know that they are also great heat busters during hot weather. They are packed with potassium which is great for keeping our body fluid regulated as we lose a lot of them when sweating. Other good sources of potassium are green leafy vegetables, baked beans, dried fruit, and cereal.
