Video game movies have had to deal with the stigma of not being able to live up to the game franchises they were based on. There are still fans however who would tell you otherwise.

Warcraft is based on the first game of the series, Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, with additional references to the novels. The orcs needed to leave Draenor which was corrupted by fel magic. Azeroth however, also had traces of fel magic.

Ace Attorney features Attorney Phoenix Wright who was placed on the hotseat when his mentor Mia Fey died. Wright has to win against the prosecution’s Miles Edgeworth, his friend.
Like a Dragon is based on the series Yakuza. The Tojo clan has just lost ten billion yen to robbers. A former member, Kiryuu Kazuma, found himself entangled with the events in the Millennium Tower while searching for Sawamura Mizuki.
Max Payne features a detective intent on finding the murderers of his wife Michelle and his child Rose. His search leads him into the underbelly of the city’s criminal world.
Dobustu no Mori is based on the series Animal Crossing. Ai moves into the Animal Village and befriends with Rosie, Alfonso, Yuu and Sally.
Dante’s Inferno: An Animated Epic is a retelling of the video game. It follows Dante who found his home in disarray after returning from the Crusades. His wife Beatrice was taken by Lucifer into Hell.
Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike is an animated film which features Yuri Lowell and Flynn Scifo, newbies in the Niren Corps, tasked to look into the unusual amount of the substance aer released in an area.
Hitman: Agent 47 features the genetically enhanced Agent 47 who is trying to find Dr. Petr Litvenko by tracking down the scientist’s daughter Katia. Another movie released in 2007 is also based on the Hitman series.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is loosely based on the game of the same title. It features Dastan, an adopted orphan of the King Sharaman, who found a dagger after he and his brothers took Alamut.
